Why Most Traders Lose: It Is Not the Strategy
The strategy is rarely the problem. Position sizing, discipline and review are.
Ask a losing trader what they need and they will say 'a better strategy'. Ask a consistently profitable one and they will talk about risk, routine and review.
The math of drawdown
Lose 50% and you need a 100% gain just to get back to even. Risking 1% per trade instead of 10% is not conservative — it is what keeps you in the game long enough for an edge to play out.
The process gap
- No written plan means every trade is a fresh decision under stress.
- No journal means the same mistakes repeat invisibly.
- No review means no improvement loop.
What to do instead
Write down your setups, your maximum risk per trade and your daily loss limit. Journal every trade. Review weekly. This is unglamorous, and it is the whole game.
